Securly Awarded UKSIC Accreditation for School Web Filtering in 2025

UKSIC Accreditation

We’re proud to share that Securly’s cloud-based web filtering system, Securly Filter, has once again been accredited by the UK Safer Internet Centre (UKSIC) in 2025.

This renewed accreditation reflects not just Securly’s compliance with the latest educational standards within the UK, but our ongoing commitment to providing schools with best-in-class online safety tools – all while evolving in line with updated guidance and the ever-changing digital landscape.

UKSIC: A Continued Commitment to Safer Learning

Securly was first accredited by the UKSIC in 2024, and we’re pleased to report that our latest review reaffirmed that status with no technical concerns raised during assessment.

In the year since, we’ve actively enhanced our filtering technologies in line with both UKSIC recommendations and updated Department for Education (DfE) requirements.

This includes the latest Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025 statutory guidance, which now places greater emphasis on filtering and monitoring solutions that can keep pace with more sophisticated online risks, including encrypted web traffic and proxy avoidance tactics.

What’s Changed in 2025?

There have been important updates to the UKSIC’s Appropriate Filtering and Monitoring Definitions, published earlier this year. The refreshed definitions provide clearer, more robust expectations around what constitutes ‘appropriate’ filtering, particularly in areas of real-time analysis, encrypted traffic inspection, and device-level protections.

We’ve taken these developments seriously, updating our technologies accordingly:

We’ve also improved the user experience for younger learners, refining the language used on block pages to ensure age-appropriate messaging.

Navigating Privacy & Safeguarding in 2025

At Securly, we’re deeply aware of this tension between privacy and safeguarding. That’s why we’re exploring opportunities to work alongside industry groups and regulatory bodies to advocate for solutions that uphold both student privacy and online safety.

Supporting UK Schools in a Changing Landscape

Many UK schools remain unaware of the full capabilities of their filtering solutions, or of the compliance requirements they’re expected to meet under KCSIE 2025. At Securly, we’re proactively engaging with schools to raise awareness of these responsibilities and provide expert guidance on implementing the most effective strategies.
