Securly Becomes National Cyber Security Awareness Month Champion

Securly today announced that it has become a Champion of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2014, joining a growing global effort among colleges and universities, businesses, government agencies, associations and non-profit organizations to promote online safety awareness.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Celebrated every October, National Cyber Security Awareness Month was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure everyone has the resources needed to stay safer and more secure online. As an official Champion, Securly recognizes its commitment to cybersecurity and online safety, particularly for the population of K-12 students that it serves.

Coordinated and led by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and the Department of Homeland Security, NCSAM has grown exponentially since its inception, reaching consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, educational institutions and young people across the nation and internationally. This year marks the 11th year of NCSAM.

As part of Securly’s NCSAM efforts, it will be posting one tweet per day (follow @SecurlyInc on Twitter) about tips on digital safety and cyberbullying. As October also marks the beginning of National Bullying Prevention Month, Securly will be making several announcements and new releases in the coming weeks, including a new offering for schools called “Bullying Detection and Sentiment Analysis”.

“Cyber security is at the core of our mission statement and we’re very proud to be a NCSAM Champion”, says Bharath Madhusudan, Co-founder and CTO of Securly. “It’s vital to protect students from harmful or inappropriate content, but it’s also important to give them access to important educational tools like Google, YouTube, and Wikipedia. That’s why we’ve designed our web filter to incorporate features like Safe Search and YouTube Safety Mode.”
